Itay Bentov MD PhD
Associate Professor Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine
Adjunct Associate Professor Department of Medicine

The focus of my clinical and research interests is to provide perioperative care to older patients and elucidate the basic mechanisms that govern the response to injury in this vulnerable population. I received my M.D. from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Ph.D. from the Tel Aviv University-NIH graduate partnership program. I provide patient care at Harborview Medical Center, the only level 1 trauma center in the WWAMI area (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho), where I also serve as the geriatric council co-chair.

I have received research support as a principal investigator from the NIA/NIH and from the UW royalty research fund to study clinical, radiological, and biochemical mechanisms that lead to aging related vulnerability and frailty. I am the UW site co-director for the NIH funded Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) Program.
