Dr. Ilona Bobek MD, PhD.

Dr Ilona Bobek graduated in Medicine (1987) and specialized in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (1991) at the Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest, Hungary. Her second degree is a Diploma in Healthcare Management (2009). She undertook additional training and experience in Canada, Belgium, and the United States. More recently, she is Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at DPC-OHII, in Budapest, Hungary. She was awarded the scientific degree of PhD in Medical Sciences and spent her sabbatical at Department of Nephrology, San Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy. She is member of several professional societies and was a member of ESA Board of Directors.
Over the course of her wide-ranging clinical practice she has had contact with almost every field within anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. Over the last 15 years she had been personally involved in the anaesthesia and intensive care of major vascular and cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, haematological and bone-marrow transplanted patients, and seriously burned patients.
Her research interests include early diagnosis of Acute Kidney Injury, indications and techniques of perioperative renal replacement therapies for cardiovascular, burned and haematological patients, and haemodynamic monitoring during renal replacement therapies.
She played a fundamental role in the intensive care treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic in Hungary.
She is author of some 55 peer-reviewed publications (+14 book chapters), which have been cited more than 2000 times.
